Project Management Italiano Inglese

Correspondence of Italian - English Project Management Terms

On this page I report a list as complete as possible of the terms used in project management in English and Italian.

When available, there is a link to a page that delves into the item.

Not all project management terms in English have an equally intuitive correspondence in Italian. For example, the term Deliverable, which is essential in English, struggles to find a correspondence with an equally immediate meaning in Italian. Any suggestions are welcome in the comments.

On the other hand, there are English terms that seem similar to Italian, but they are false friends, for example "scope" in English, which translates as "scope" in Italian and defines what is inside and what is outside the project scope.

A lead allows an acceleration of the successor activity. For example, on a project to construct a new office building, the landscaping could be scheduled to start 2 weeks prior to the scheduled punch list completion. This would be shown as a finish-to-start with a 2-week lead.

A lag directs a delay in the successor activity. For example, a technical writing team can begin editing the draft of a large document 15 days after they begin writing it. This could be shown as a start-to-start relationship with a 15-day lag.
